Responsibilities:
The Housing Assistant will carry out such duties as needed and directed by the Housing Program Coordinator including collecting rents and recording financial information into property management software; working with applicants and residents to complete eligibility paperwork; coordinating with utility and repair vendors; and other duties. This is a non-exempt position.

• Assist staff with administrative and program work related to the operating of the property including rent collection, recording financial information, and make daily deposits.
• Assist with writing and word-processing including preparation of spreadsheets, grants, funding applications, correspondence and reports as related to the housing programs. 
• Answer questions, phone inquiries and screen calls for staff as needed.
• Type, file, photocopy, process transmittals/mailings and other office duties.
• Coordinate with vendors to do repairs; forward maintenance request forms to LIHI's maintenance department; track maintenance work and needs.
• Fill in for LIHI's Office Assistant or Administrative Assistant as requested
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

• A minimum of two years of progressively responsible related work experience in clerical/administrative work, human services, housing or grant writing. Demonstrated ability to provide high quality staff support. A college degree may substitute for a portion of the work experience.
• Excellent organizational skills and proven ability to work without direct supervision.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Working knowledge of personal computers and word processing and spreadsheet software programs.
• Demonstrated ability to work with people with sensitivity to cultural and class issues, and a demonstrated commitment to social justice and/or low income housing.
